The One Travel Planning Tool I Wish I’d Started Using Sooner
If you’re anything like me, planning a trip usually starts with far too many tabs open on my computer and multiple places saved within my phone! When I come to referring back, I have no idea where anything is!
One minute I’m saving a beautiful viewpoint on Instagram, the next I’m reading a blog about hidden gems. Before long I’ve got restaurant recommendations in WhatsApp, attraction ideas in Facebook messenger or worse getting lost further down a Facebook group!
That’s exactly why I created the the Road and Roam Attractions & Activities Planner.
What is it?
It’s a simple planner designed to help you keep all your trip ideas in one place before you travel.
Instead of scrambling through all those different places, you can quickly record:
- Attractions you don’t want to miss.
- Activities you’d love to try.
- Estimated time your ‘must do’ recommendation will take.
- Be able to prioritise the recommendation so if you are short on time, you won’t miss that top priority.
- Roughly plan your week and see how it looks.
- You can also easily highlight whether something needs advance booking.
Why I made it
I don’t travel full time. Most of my trips are planned around annual leave, life commitments and long weekends. So I’ve learnt that a little organisation makes a huge difference.
I wanted a tool that would help me:
- Keep all those great recommendations in one place.
- Compare options easily.
- Avoid forgetting places I’d been told about – I swear brain fog is real.
- Prioritise the experiences that matter most.
- Make better use of limited holiday time.

How I use it
When I start planning a road trip, I add every interesting attraction I find to the planner first. If it’s a bigger trip, I have one planner per area. I’m also someone who loves writing things down. I’m old school.
Once I can see everything together, it becomes much easier to decide:
- What’s worth adding into my trip.
- Where shall I plan my overnight stop – have I uncovered a small town with lots to see and do.
- What fits naturally into the route.
- What should be booked in advance.
- What can I afford to miss.
- Does a particular activity take too long that I’m going to potentially miss out on multiple things?
It turns a chaotic collection of ideas into a clear, realistic itinerary.
